Staff Welfare
We are committed to the highest standards of health & safety across all areas of the business and in this respect an organisation-wide strategy within which health & safety will be managed has been implemented.

These health & safety activities are monitored and audited regularly. Processes and systems to safeguard health & safety of the staff are in place to prevent any likely accidents and occupational hazards.

In Indonesia, our own workforce within the plantation and their families are provided with welfare measures like

Modern housing with adequate supplies of clean water, electricity and sanitation facilities along with basic amenities given to all staff to uplift their quality of life.

Skilled nursing staff, fully equipped hospital, emergency facilities along with a resident doctor for the plantation hospital and immunization clinics.
Trained teaching staff in the school and the day care centre
Assistance to two primary schools in the village which the children of the plantation employees attend
A co-operative scheme was also introduced to the plantation staff to purchase their daily rations at reasonable prices which will lead to enhancement of the disposable income.

We are also committed to the highest standards of health & safety across all areas of the business and in this respect an organisation-wide strategy within which health & safety will be managed has been discussed. The strategy applies to all people in the organisation and extends to cover individuals and organisations undertaking work on our behalf. Some of the initial steps taken towards the safety of the staff are :

erecting safety signs in precautionary places

distribution of protective gear for the mill and stores staff
training on fire fighting & equipment inspection

These health & safety activities are monitored and audited regularly. Processes and systems to safeguard health & safety of the plantation staff who engage in activities relating to pesticide and chemical application are in place to prevent any likely accidents and occupational hazards. Towards this, hazards chemical management training was given to storekeepers while the storage facilities are improved with safety signs, absorption tanks, better ventilation, washing facilities, protective gear etc.
